27) All will culminate in God’s Kingdom
Friday 24 December
Revelation 5
‘See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.’
Revelation 5:5
We are approaching the feast of the birth of Christ. And we celebrate it in a remarkable time. What a pity that there are so many constraints and that we miss a bit of the atmosphere and the warmth of the feast. There are some brothers and sisters who have a pessimistic view and they wonder what is yet to come. We also see how Israel is constantly threatened by terror and countries like Iran.
Therefore, it is important to realise that there is more than the birth of the Lord Jesus. This was only the beginning. Jesus, as the Lamb of God, would take away the sins of the world and overcome death. And this is how we see Him in Revelation 5: the Lion of the tribe of Judah. This is how He is called in the dwellings of God. He carries this name, which indicates His connection to Israel, even now. And, as we read, He holds the future in His hands. He is the Alpha and the Omega; no Omicron or Iran can compete with this!
In these days, we may join in the praise and worship that Jesus receives in heaven: ‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!’
Prayer:
Lord God, we thank and praise You and we glorify Your Son with the words we just read (Revelation 5:12-13).
