Update from northern Israel • Israel changes the balance of power

Tal Hartuv - 24 September 2024

Up until now, the majority of Israelis have expressed their continuous frustration towards the seeming inaction of the government in responding to Hizbollah’s continuous attacks, which has left much of the north empty. The incessant shelling of the northern communities has caused enormous damage to the economy and property and tragically has taken many casualties.

Ever since Operation Beeper a week ago, Israel has stepped up its action. Israeli jets and drones have continuously been flying back and forth over Lebanon destroying tens of thousands of rocket launchers and ammunition factories. Within the space of a few hours on Monday 23rd, the Israeli Air force penetrated deeper into Lebanon and targeted 1500 rocket launchers.

In as much, the attacks on Israel has escalated, with rockets being sent deeper south and with greater quantity and frequency. For the first time since the war, rockets have been fired at Haifa, one of the most important strategic and military cities in the country, and home of the navy. In accordance with the dramatic escalation, the Home Command is constantly updating the public and has requested that all citizens obey instructions and “keep cool.”

The military action has been welcomed all over Israel. Speaking from Tel Aviv, in the underground command room, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in Hebrew and English for the foreign press, that Israel was changing the balance of power. Israel would no longer play defense after months of violence from the enemy. Hizbollah has the blood of thousands of Syrians, Christians, Iraqis, Druze and even Palestinians on its hands. The actions of the IDF have therefore universally been welcomed in the Arab world, isolating Hizbollah and its Muslim Sugar Daddy Iran.
