Christians for Israel: ‘We Stand Unconditionally with the Jewish Community Amid Recent Antisemitic Attacks’
We are shocked by the horrific antisemitic attacks that unfolded last night against Israeli citizens in the Netherlands, who were here for a soccer match. Evidence suggest that this was an orchestrated hunt for Jews. Hundreds of Israelis were chased, threatened, assaulted and beaten. Numerous victims are being treated in hospital. Three —and possibly more- are still missing. Israeli President Herzog called this outbreak of violence a pogrom, underscoring the severity of what has occurred.
It is deeply distressing that, here in the Netherlands, we have failed to provide safety for Jews. As Christians for Israel, we stand in unyielding solidarity with the Jewish community. At the Israel Center, our headquarters in the Netherlands, the Israeli flag has been lowered to half-mast in sorrow. Last night’s attack chillingly echoes the events of Kristallnacht, which took place on 9 November 1938, and was commemorated just yesterday in Amsterdam. That such a violent hunt for Jews could occur again in 2024 in our capital city is both incomprehensible and unacceptable.
We urgently ask your prayers for all the victims, for the safe return of those missing and for the well-being of all who seek to return home to Israel. Now is the time to raise our voices and speak out for Israel and the Jewish people.
