Hezbollah fires 250 rockets at northern Israel
On Sunday 25 November, areas all over Israel was subjected to non-stop barrages of rocket attacks, the most since October 7th, the day that the war began. With over 500 sirens going off from the north to south, several small communities and towns took direct hits.
Throughout the day, national TV stopped regular coverage, and instead, broadcast live news, as more and more disturbing footage was screened of houses, vehicles and open spaces on fire.
Several people were wounded due to the 250 rockets falling, including a woman whose car caught fire when she was still in it. A farmer was seriously wounded by shrapnel, as were two men in Haifa, as Hezbollah aimed for the naval base. Scores of other people received treatment for shock and minor injuries.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed in principle to a US-backed ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Prime Minister is now working on how to present it to the public “There is a ‘danger’ in the time left for the Biden administration to take unilateral American steps similar to the end of the Obama era. Therefore, the right thing right now is to go to a settlement with Lebanon subject to an American commitment that we will respond to any violation.”
The Biden-backed truce includes Hezbollah removing its forces north of the Litani River; an Israeli pullout from southern Lebanon; and Israeli-Lebanese negotiations on demarcation of contested border area.
Understandably after the damage and injuries sustained yesterday, many Israelis are skeptical of any deal. Many members of the public were interviewed in front of their burning property and commentators from all sides of the political scale came to a consensus that for Israel, Trump entering the Oval Office cannot come soon enough. Only then, will Israel be able to bring quiet to the region and subjugate its enemies by dealing with the head of the snake, Iran’s nuclear facilities.
