The two-state solution

There are several ideas about what could be the best solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One of these ideas is the two-state solution. This solution proposes the creation of two independent states within former Mandatory Palestine. The 1947 UN Partition Plan was the first attempt to realize a two-state solution.

Alternatives to the two-state solution

In addition to this solution, there are two other solutions to the conflict. First of all, there is the idea of a federation, in which the country would be governed by one joint government. However, this does not resolve the partition of the territory. A more extreme solution is the bi-national state or the one-state solution. This perspective considers the entire territory a homeland for both the Jews and the Palestinians. After the failed peace negotiations, this solution has become relevant again.
