As Israel mourns, the world remains silent
The people of Israel mourned this week as Yarden Bibas buried his beloved wife Shiri and their sons – four-year-old Ariel and nine-month Kfir.
Yarden, who was recently released from Gaza, shared a poignant eulogy at Kibbutz Nir Oz on Wednesday for the burial of his wife and two children. Shiri, Ariel and Kfir were brutally killed by Hamas operatives with their bare hands. It appears that their bodies were then mutilated in order to give the appearance that they had been killed by Israeli bombs.
In a deeply moving ceremony, Yarden recalled his deep love for Shiri, remembering their first moments together and their bond as best friends, and later, as a wife and mother. He expressed deep sorrow and regret for not being able to protect them, especially during the tragic events on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas and Palestinian terrorist snatched them from their home.
The bodies of four more hostages – Ohad Yahalomi, Tsachi Idan, Shlomo Mantzur, and Itzik Elgarat – were handed over during the night of Wednesday-Thursday. Forensic analysis confirmed that they were murdered.
Why is the world not in outcry at the brutality of the treatment of the hostages? Why is the United Nations so weak in facing up to the depravity of the Hamas treatment of innocent civilians?
“Why is the world not in outcry at the brutality of the treatment of the hostages?”
Not only is there no outcry, the United Nations is trying to stifle any criticism the atrocities. At a meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Chairman silenced a human rights expert who spoke out for the human rights of Israelis and against the Hamas terrorist organization. Prof. Anne Bayefsky began her testimony, “The world now knows. Palestinian savages murdered nine-month-old baby Kfir…” UNHCR President Jürg Laube immediately interrupted her and said, “Sorry, sorry. I have to interrupt. And I invite all speakers to use language that is commensurate with the dignity in here to our discussions here on human rights. Everyone has the right to express their views, but this should remain within the appropriate framework and terminology. As I said yesterday, tolerance and respect must be the guiding principles of the council’s work, and I will not tolerate disrespectful language with this in mind. I give the floor back to this video statement.”
“Why is the United Nations so weak in facing up to the depravity of the Hamas treatment of innocent civilians?”
In the United States, evidence is gradually emerging of deep corruption. The Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) held a hearing yesterday to expose egregious foreign aid spending. Members of the Subcommittee presented an overwhelming array of examples illustrating how the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has spent taxpayer dollars on programs that undermine American interests. One expert stated:
“We have assisted al-Shabaab in Somalia, there’s been instances of the Hamzi network in Sudan, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Kata’ib Hezbollah, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in Syria, dozens of terror organizations have received indirect assistance from U.S. foreign aid. Let’s use Gaza as our case study. $2.1 billion in American taxpayers’ money to Gaza since October 7th and Hamas invaded southern Israel. USAID money was going in terms of an emergency use authorization to try to give money to parties that USAID formerly had a relationship with in the Gaza Strip. They had to have been vetted by OFEK. They should be vetted against the special designated terrorist in the State Department and from other Treasury organizations. Waivers were granted because they said that there was an emergency use to have that money come in to Gaza, thereby jettisoning the usual typical screening procedures. As a result, 90% of aid that was going from the United States, by way of its agents in Gaza, ended up in Hamas controlled areas. Essentially, what the U.S. assistance to Gaza did was underwrite the ability for Hamas to survive until the cease fire, which was passed a few weeks ago.”
In another development, the IDF has published its review of the failures on 7th October 2023. The results are damning of a failure of strategy within the Israeli Defence Forces.
“The State of Israel chose a policy of ‘conflict management’ vis-à-vis Hamas, whose purpose is to preserve and improve the existing reality, and from which the military methods of operation were derived,” the IDF concludes. “It is wrong to ‘manage’ a conflict with an enemy whose goal is your destruction.” The investigators conclude that Hamas terrorists “took advantage of Israel’s policy of ‘conflict management’ to advance an orderly plan for a broad attack.”
Let us pray that the Lord will comfort His grieving people, and that He will intervene to end this tragedy.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK: Deuteronomy 9:1-6
Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky. The people are strong and tall—Anakites! You know about them and have heard it said: “Who can stand up against the Anakites?” But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you.
After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you. It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.
