Northern Israel update – Deadly terror attack in Samaria

Tal Hartuv - 7 January 2025

Israeli forces were engaging in a long manhunt for the two terrorists who shot at Israel cars on Monday, killing three and injuring eight people.

The terror attack that occurred in Samaria, was carried out by Islamic Jihad and claimed the lives of two pensioners, Rachel Cohen and Aliza Raiz who were sisters-in-laws, and 35-year old policeman Sgt. Elad Yaakov Winkelstein.

ZAKA, a religious organization of volunteers who have the gruesome task of collecting all body parts for a proper Jewish burial arrived at the scene, and one of the ZAKA volunteers described it the most violent and brutal crime scenes he has seen since October 7th.

‘Israelis know that this war is far from over.’

There was much talk from the military and politicians speaking of a new and violent war front opening up in Judea and Samaria. Since October 7th, Palestinian factions from Judea and Samaria have carried out numerous terror attacks which have murdered 46 Jewish people, yet the Israel Security Services have managed to foil over a thousand more attempts. Israeli soldiers have arrested around 6,000 terrorists over the last year including 2,350 affiliated with Hamas.

The Israeli government responded immediately to the murders by saying that they will not allow any Gaza-type Jihad to develop in Judea and Samaria and that Israel’s response will be equivalent to how she has dealt with Hamas, and Hezbollah.

With rockets having been fired into Israel for the last ten days from Gaza and the terror attack of today, Israelis know that this war is far from over.
