The battle for the Jewish national home

31 January 2025

We are witnessing a fight for the right of the Jewish people to have a national home.

This battle is part of the larger war between the Islamic world bent on establishing Sharia law and the West that is based on Judeo-Christian values. It is a war between the forces of darkness and the forces of light. Between Babylon and Zion. A war that was foretold by the prophets of Israel millennia ago.

The scenes yesterday of two young Israeli women and one elderly Israeli man being released from the hell of Hamas tunnels in Gaza was horrific. The hatred, the hostility, the brutal violence as wild crowds of Gazan Palestinians almost lynched them. The unbelievably cynical staging of the event by Hamas.

How is it possible that the world continues to accuse Israel of war crimes, and fails to support Israel’s efforts to destroy Hamas?

Three more hostages, Ofer Kalderon, 54, Keith Siegel, 65, and Yarden Bibas, 35, are expected to be released soon. Bibas’s wife, Shiri, 33, and their two young sons, Ariel, 5, and Kfir, 2, are on the list of the 33 hostages to be released in the first phase of the truce. Hamas, however, has claimed that Shiri, Ariel and Kfir have been killed.

“Israel has cut all its ties with UNRWA”

As of today, Israel has cut all its ties with UNRWA, the massive UN organization for the Palestinian refugees that for decades has taught Palestinian children to hate Jews and seek the destruction of the Jewish State of Israel. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was established in 1949, and is built on the lie that Israel alone is responsible for the plight of the Palestinian “refugees”. It has perpectuated the conflict by whitewashing Arab aggression, and ensuring that Palestinians never take responsibility for their own destiny. Over recent months it has become clear that UNRWA’s operation in Gaza has been infiltrated by Hamas. The UN refuses to address this problem. Israel has decided that “enough is enough”, and insists that other organizations are perfectly capable of ensuring adequate humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian population in Gaza. As a sovereign state, Israel is entitled to terminate its cooperation with corrupt UN agencies when they threaten the security of its citizens. The new Trump Administration in the US has also terminated funding of UNRWA.

The UN General Assembly has asked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue an “Advisory Opinion” on the question whether Israel’s actions are legal under international law. Of course, this is a one-sided attack on Israel’s sovereignty and will inevitably result in a one-sided court opinion.

Will Julia Sebutinde be the next President of the International Court of Justice?

By the way, there is also a battle within the esteemed institution of the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Since 7th October 2023, the Court has been weaponized against Israel. Currently there are four cases on the Court’s docket that are all being used by the Islamic and Arab states to condemn Israel, undermine its capacity to defend its citizens, and divert attention from the horrors of Islamist terrorism across the globe. There are two cases under the Genocide Convention, a UN General Assembly request for an Advisory Opinion concerning Israel’s obligations in Gaza, and a case brought by the Palestinians against the USA for moving its embassy to Jerusalem in 2017. Only one judge – Julia Sebutinde, from Uganda – has pushed back against all of this, and spoken unambiguously in support of Israel’s right to exist and defend itself. Following the recent departure of the Lebanese antisemitic judge Nawaf Salam (who probably has ties with Hezbollah and has become Prime Minister of Lebanon), Judge Sebutinde is currently acting President of the Court. Elections will be held for a new President of the court in the next few weeks. There are fifteen judges, representing most legal traditions – including judges from the Arab/Islamic world as well as left-oriented legal academics who promote the power of globalist institutions and undermine state sovereignty. A political and spiritual struggle is taking place for the heart and mind of the Court.

Trump sanctions the International Criminal Court

Speaking of President Trump – an avalanche of Executive Orders from the White House over the past week includes sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) and all individuals and entities connected with it. According to the Administration, the ICC’s issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli leaders shows that it has become a rogue institution that presents a threat to US security.

“Hezbollah refuses to withdraw in southern Lebanon”

In the north, the ceasefire in Lebanon is collapsing. Under the ceasefire’s terms, the Israel Defense Forces is to gradually withdraw from Lebanon’s south as the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) troops take over responsibilities for ensuring that Hezbollah remains disarmed south of the Litani River. However Hezbollah refuses to withdraw, and is increasingly hostile. This week, Israeli Air Force fighter jets attacked Hezbollah targets in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley after the Iranian-backed terrorist organization dispatched a surveillance drone over Israel.

Trump calls on Egypt and Jordan to take in Palestinians from Gaza

In another “out-of-the-box” move, US President Donald Trump has called on Jordan and Egypt to support a proposal to resettle Palestinians in their countries rather than in a rebuilt Gaza. As usual, Trump says what many people think but are afraid to say. Indeed, why shouldn’t Egypt and Jordan be required to share the burden of the radicalized Palestinians in Gaza? After all, it was Jordan and Egypt that attacked Israel in 1948 and created the Palestinian refugee problem in the first place. “They will do it. They will do it. They’re gonna do it, okay? We do a lot for them, and they’re gonna do it,” Trump says when asked about the proposal during a photo op in the Oval Office. Both Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sissi and Jordan’s King Abdullah have explicitly rejected the proposal.

Israel is fighting hotbeds of terrorism in Judea and Samaria

Israel is fighting another bloody battle in Judea and Samaria. In “Operation Iron Wall”, the IDF is heavy fighting in cities like Jenin and Tulkarim in the “West Bank” against cells of Palestinian terrorists. In the Jenin refugee camp in the outskirts of Nablus, for example, the young people call themselves “Ibn al-Mukhayam” (“Sons of the Camp”). The young generation does not recognize the Palestinian Authority security forces or local leadership. The camp has strengthened and nurtured radical forces in the city over the years.

“Al Jazeera is Qatar’s propaganda machine”

Behind Hezbollah and Hamas are countries like Iran, Qatar and Turkey. Qatar’s political, financial and economic leadership adheres to the same Islamist mindset as the Muslim Brotherhood, that originated in Egypt and has inspired, launched and mobilized organizations like Al Qaida and ISIS. The media organization Al Jazeera is Qatar’s propaganda machine. Al Jazeera is poisoning the minds not only of the adherents of its ideology in the Middle East, but also of the younger generation in the West.

And so it is clear that this war against the Jewish people is being fought on many fronts – warfare on the ground within and around Israel, warfare in the global media, and warfare in the international and domestic legal institutions across the world.

We have an important task: to lift up this complex situation before the throne of the Almighty. Let us pray all the more fervently that the Jewish people will be protected in the many battlegrounds. Let us pray that the Lord Himself will intervene miraculously to change the hearts and minds of all people, to disperse Israel’s enemies, and to protect and preserve the Jewish people.

Arbel Yehud, Agam Berger and Gadi Mozes home after 482 days in captivity

Akiva van Koningsveld at JNS: Hamas also released five Thai nationals on Thursday afternoon, as Jerusalem was readying to free 110 Palestinian terrorists.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that Jerusalem appealed to mediators Qatar and Egypt following the “horrific scenes” of Yehud and Mozes being publicly taunted by their captors and a mob of thousands of Palestinians as they were transferred to the Red Cross. “This is further proof of the unimaginable cruelty of the Hamas terrorist organization,” Jerusalem’s Prime Minister’s Office stated, demanding that Doha and Cairo work to “guarantee the safety of our hostages.”

Using the ICJ as a political weapon against Israel – and avoiding the real problem of terror

By Andrew Tucker, Director of thinc. – The UN General Assembly has again been mobilized by the Arab, Islamic and African groups of states, supported by some European states (including Norway, France, Ireland and Belgium) to request yet another Advisory Opinion from the ICJ, condemning Israel. This latest request concerns Israel’s termination of relations with the Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA and asks the Court to advise on Israel’s obligations to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip under international law.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK: Daniel 12

“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.
6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end.
10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”
