The nations united against Israel
Two decisions this week show how biased the international system is against Israel. The nations are uniting against Israel. And yet, not all nations wish to be part of this system. We see a growing rift between those states that put all their trust in the global (multilateral) sytem to achieve world peace, and those states that emphasize state sovereignty and inter-state collaboration as the way to peace and security.
Earlier in the week, the Security Council considered a resolution – tabled by Algeria – demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. The draft resolution did not include the release of hostages as a condition of the ceasefire. The United States vetoed the resolution.
Then on Thursday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli leaders – Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Gallant – for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
“Interestingly, an increasing number of states are showing their dissatisfaction with the global system”
Interestingly, an increasing number of states are showing their dissatisfaction with the global system that seems to be biased against not only Israel, but all states based on Western liberal values. Argentinian President Milei stated clearly in his UN speech in September that his country demands reform of the UN system. President-elect Trump has announced also dissatisfaction with the global system. The response to yesterday’s ICC decision shows that a number of other Western states – such as Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany – are sceptical of the decisions of the international courts.
Israeli commentator Caroline Glick commented on these developments:
“The institutions formed in the wake of World War II to create and preserve a liberal, international rules-based order never worked the way they were supposed to work. But today, they are no longer simply feckless, corrupt and dysfunctional. They are malign and dangerous. Rather than advance freedom, human rights and life, they serve tyranny, terror and murder. The system is beyond repair.”
She is right. Israel and the Jewish people are – as always – the canary in the coalmine.
Situation in the State of Palestine: ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I rejects the State of Israel’s challenges to jurisdiction and issues warrants of arrest for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant
“The Chamber issued warrants of arrest for two individuals, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr Yoav Gallant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024, the day the Prosecution filed the applications for warrants of arrest.”

The international system is broken beyond repair
Caroline Glick at JNS: “The Soviets were convinced that by laundering Palestinian terrorist propaganda through the U.N. system, the Palestinian cause would weaken and divide the Western alliance.”

Six Barley | The Book of RUTH with Johannes Gerloff #51
Early in the morning after the fateful night, Boaz gave Ruth a gift for Naomi. With this gift, the number is clear: six. And the content is unambiguous: barley. But are we talking about grains, liters, gallons or truckloads?
Psalm 2
Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chain and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
