Prayer Calendar October – November 2023

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

The Jewish people celebrate Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, in October. During this celebration they commemorate how God protected the people of Israel as during their journey through the desert. God saved them from hunger, thirst, and hostile nations. God’s protection is the central theme of Psalm 91, in which it is described from various perspectives. On the one hand we have the tender image of a hen gathering her chicks under her wings, on the other words that evoke strength and power where God is called a refuge and a strong tower. God is the God of loving intimacy but also the God who positions Himself as a Warrior to protect His people. Pray in the coming months that Israel will know and feel God’s protection.
